Amanda Tapping biography

In university, she decided to major in Drama in the University of Windsor, School of Dramatic Arts.  Serious about taking her career one level up, she spent four more years studying theater, while appearing on stage in various productions.

An agent convinced Amanda Tapping to do commercials, and with the money she made from that, she financed Random Acts, a comedy troupe, where she acted with two other women.  The group was rumored to have split up, but happily, they’re back together.

Ms. Tapping’s credits include The X-Files, Millenium, Due South and Flash Forward.  In 2004, she became director in Stargate and played host to Proof Positive, Evidence of the Paranormal on SciFi channel.

The lady hasn’t peaked in her success. Not just yet. She’s still going up, up and up, and recently signed a full 10th season for Stargate. It’s been running for the last ten years.

Ms. Tapping certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, because she was nominated for several awards, and has bagged quite a few of them.

The public is no doubt interested in the human side of celebrities. After all, we’re always eager to hear who recently adopted a baby or donated a whopping sum of money to a disaster-stricken area.; Ms. Tapping has done her share for humanitarian causes and continues to do so. She is a staunch supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society, the SPCA and MS. She speaks on behalf of UNICEF as well.

Married to Alan Kovacs, Amanda loves to ride horses, read and ski. She and her husband have a daughter, Olivia, and a dog named Abbie. The family lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
